Menara Pelita
Kuching, Sarawak
91 BASE jumps were completed off Menara Pelita by 19 BASE jumpers.
The first stop of the tour this year was in the city of Kuching which is the capital city of the state of Sarawak. Sarawak is in East Malaysia on the island of Borneo.
All jumpers were picked up at the airport by Cat City Tours and transported to the Harbour View Hotel.
The event started with a charity visit to the
children's Cancer Ward at Sarawak General Hospital by the jumpers and staff of Menara Kuala Lumpur Sdn Bhd .
A donation to Sarawak Children's
Cancer Society was made by Menara Kuala Lumpur and gifts were presented to the children at the ward.
In afternoon jumpers got a first look at the first building on the tour, Menara Pelita. Jumpers were given an event briefing then inspected the launch point and landing areas of the building they would BASE jump off the following morning.
The next day was jump day. After a quick practice jump, several of the jumpers performed a display jump for the opening ceremony. Jumping then continued for the rest of the day.
After jumping had concluded all participants were taken on a Sarawak River Cruise for dinner which was hosted by the Sarawak Tourism Board.
In the morning of our final day in Sarawak jumpers got to experience some of Sarawak's traditional culture at the Sarawak Cultural Village.
In the afternoon jumpers visited the Semenggok Orang Utan Sanctuary.
The next morning jumpers traveled to Kota Kinabalu in Sabah for our second building of the event.
