A new CEO was appointed to KL Tower a couple of weeks before the the 2010 event was due to start. The event was allowed to go ahead but was scaled back to just KL Tower and also an unofficial event at Alor Setar Tower.

It was fully organised again by KL Tower in the same high risk naive and reckless fashion as the previous year with no real BASE jumping experience requirements. The focus seemed to be on maximising the number of participants without any real care if participants were capable or not.

After the previous event in 2009 KL Tower staff chose to ignore strong warnings from experienced BASE jumpers that if they continue to attempt to organise events in a naive and reckless manner then it was guaranteed to result in serious injury and death of novice BASE jumpers in the very near future. Everyone knew that KL Tower management would only start to get a real understanding of their negligence after someone paid with their life. Sure enough there was a fatality that happened on the first day of the of their very next event at Alor Setar Tower. Warnings were continued to be ignored a week later at KL Tower resulting in 3 people opening their parachutes practically as they were going through trees, and a couple of tower strikes with serious injury.

Alor Setar Tower BASE Jump 2010

The Alor Setar event started with tragedy on the first day with the death of novice Australian BASE Jumper Kylie Tanti.
She had just 20 BASE jumps at the time.

It was an inevitable outcome after KL Tower managers decayed all safety standards including slashing participant experience entry requirements to a fraction of what they were previously, in desperation to get BASE Jumpers to attend the event.

This was also the first year that event managers chose not to take the usual safety precaution of removing the lamp posts that are in the flight path to the landing area during various wind conditions. A few BASE jumpers hit this lamp posts, resulting in damaging their parachute gear and bending the lamp posts. Fortunately no one was seriously injured by this.

KL Tower BASE Jump 2010

A week after the death of a very inexperience BASE jumper at Alor Setar Tower, the negligent organising continued at KL Tower. Malaysian Aziz Ahmad was put in charge of the event. We received strong warnings from Europe about a reckless new BASE jumper/Wingsuit flier that should not be permitted to jump at the event. But Aziz was keen to let him jump. It was suggested to Aziz to at least not allow him to jump his wingsuit, but it seemed Aziz was keen for more carnage at the event. It was no surprise seeing the novice wingsuit flier have a near death experience as he opened his parachute and immediately went crashing through trees.
