KL Tower BASE Jump 2015 took place from 2nd to 4th October over 3 days and 2 nights. Despite economical difficulties Menara KL came through with their spirit of Malaysia Boleh or "Malaysia can" and put the extra effort into ensuring the event went ahead.

The event saw a record number of BASE jumpers, from a record number of countries, completing a record number of jumps.
117 BASE jumpers from 26 countries completed 3481 BASE jumps in just 3 days.
Of special note was Rudy Cassan completing 101 BASE jumps over the 3 days with his lightening fast packing techniques.

Event Safety Crew Issues:

The lax attitude of Aziz Ahmad towards participant safety with him constantly supplying event safety crew who had no knowledge, skills, or training, was always an issue for the event. They would often obliviously encourage safety breaches which always led to serious accidents and injuries. The problem became worse in later years when BASE jumpers became more reliant on the event safety crew due to the launch point level changing in a way that gave them less opportunity to study the winds and watch what happened all the jumps before they jumped.

The event manager from CD Events was aware of the issues and shortcomings with the so-called event safety crew. At the end of the 2014 event he agreed for future events we could provide much more suitable event safety crew who would be capable of proving a level of incident prevention, rather than having a crew that was a contributing cause for many preventable accidents. But when the 2015 event came around there was again an insistence from management higher up to hire Aziz Ahmad to provide event crew that had no knowledge, skills, or training. Safety guidelines were written for Aziz’s crew to follow, but Aziz declined to get his crew to follow them. Aziz would again insist that it was okay for jumping to continue in a manner which was guaranteed to result in serious accidents. It is not understandable why KL Tower event management would insist on setting up their event in such a reckless manner when they otherwise make a large effort with many other less significant safety aspects of the event.

The insistent negligence would result in yet another tower strike. This time a BASE jumper ended up knocked out unconscious after bouncing off KL Tower several times and crashing onto the ground floor roof. In past years many BASE jumpers had already paid a high price with serious injuries for us to discover all modes of failure and complacency in regards to tower strikes. With all knowledge gained there should be no reason for BASE jumpers to continue to slam into such an overhanging tower. Tower strikes were at the top the list of preventable incidents that should have been long stamped out, but for some reason but Aziz and KL Tower managers were always determined to ensure BASE jumpers would hit KL Tower every year.

Aziz Ahmad disregarding participant safety
There was always an insistence for Aziz Ahmad to provide crew with no knowledge, skills, or training. This would always lead to many BASE jumpers having accidents.

There was also the issue that the event safety crew was very under resourced. There was no coordination between the main ramp launch point, and the crane or rope swing launch points. This led to groups of people from different launch points jumping at the same time. It created the great potential for BASE jumpers to collide sometime after opening their parachute, particularly when coming into land on the narrow runway landing area or at the water tank.
